Last year LexisNexis took a giant step. The company signed on as the title sponsor for the LexisNexis IRONMAN® 70.3® Raleigh triathlon.
More than a dozen employees from our offices on the NC State Centennial Campus competed in the event – and about 50 more volunteered to work as event staff. We’ve signed on this year as title sponsor too and will again field a team to compete and volunteer with the event management.
Most of the employees competing in the triathlon last year were first-timers, save for a two including our head of sales who explained to the Triangle Business Journal “the lessons you learn are completely applicable in business.”
The other is Scott Winter, a product manager for the LexisNexis Interaction CRM product. In the video nearby, originally posted to our dedicated careers site for North Carolina, he explains what it was like to see some of his colleagues “push themselves to do something they never really did before.”
The push may well be paying off as a short while ago, Forbes named LexisNexis on a list of top 10 U.S. tech employers. The ranking is based on an independent survey, conducted by Statista, of 20,000 U.S. employees.
As the date of the IRONMAN competition – May 31, 2015 – approaches, we thought it fitting to work this short video into our Friday Share series. We hope it might inspire some additional employees to compete, give employee prospects a glimpse into the culture, and a chance for our customers to see some of the people behind the products they use.
